Last Wednesday / Hen of the Woods Mushrooms

The weekend before last it was a beautiful sunny day and we accordingly took a stroll through the McCarren Farmers Market. Despite the 'tough economic times' we couldn't resist splurging on some Hen of the Woods (or Maitake) Mushrooms. Polenta seemed the logical accompaniment and we also made a dish of Asparagus and a Fried Egg with Chives and Truffle Oil.
